Mughal Gardens, Srinagar

Where emperors designed paradise on earth — terraced lawns, singing fountains, and chinar-shaded walks beside Dal Lake.

Explore the Gardens

🌿 The Imperial Gardens

Shalimar Bagh

Shalimar Bagh

Built by Emperor Jahangir in 1619 for his wife Nur Jahan. Features three terraces symbolizing ‘public’, ‘royal’, and ‘harem’ spaces, with cascading fountains and chinar trees.

Nishat Bagh

Nishat Bagh

The ‘Garden of Joy’ — built by Asif Khan, brother of Nur Jahan. Offers panoramic Dal Lake views from its 12 terraces, each representing a zodiac sign.

Chashme Shahi

Chashme Shahi

Smallest but most elegant — ‘Royal Spring’ garden built around a natural freshwater spring believed to have medicinal properties. Perfect for quiet reflection.

Pari Mahal (The Palace of Fairies)

Pari Mahal (The Palace of Fairies)

Not technically Mughal, but unmissable — a 17th-century Sufi school atop Zabarwan Hills. Sunset here offers golden views over Dal Lake and all three gardens below.

Partially. Main pathways are paved, but some terraces have steps. Chashme Shahi is most compact and manageable. We can arrange assisted visits upon request.
Light snacks okay, but no picnics or alcohol. Several tea/coffee stalls available inside. Littering strictly prohibited — help preserve these heritage sites!
Minimum 2–3 hours for all 3 main gardens. Add 1 hour for Pari Mahal. We recommend starting at Nishat (highest view), then Shalimar, then Chashme Shahi, ending with sunset at Pari Mahal.
